Project Manager

You are here

The Saint John Community Loan Fund is looking for a change agent that can lead our social purpose real estate and social enterprise developments.

We are a community development corporation that helps individuals and organizations go after opportunity to build assets and economic independence. The tools we use include financing, training, coaching and real estate development. We are located at the Social Enterprise Hub, a building we constructed to house enterprising nonprofits, social enterprises, and micro enterprises. At the Hub we are a cluster of groups that are passionate about scaling impact, whether in environmental stewardship, literacy, employment and enterprise, or purposeful community research and policy development. It’s a dynamic and inspiring workplace.

Your job will be to lead a two-year project that will develop social purpose real estate and social enterprise opportunities in our neighbourhood. You will work with other creative team members as we build a continuum of opportunities for youth in the projects undertaken. Specifically, your will identify new opportunities for real estate investment, build proposals, identify funding and program partners, lead applications for government subsidies, engage contractors, help develop basic curriculum around demolition and construction, manage project timelines, financing and contractor obligations, and evaluate outcomes.

You are a creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset. You work hard. See challenge as opportunity. You make teams better. You want to make a difference. You think big and act locally. You don’t mind getting your hands dirty.

You are skilled at working with others; at training and coaching; at research, writing and developing great material; at project management; business and maybe even real estate analysis and marketing; and well, a lot more. If you are bilingual, that is a huge asset for work around the province.

Your training and experience is not a straight line here. You may have earned a business degree and/or adult education degree. Worked in construction, renovated a couple of buildings, helped others launch their social enterprise. You may have helped individuals on low income as a job, or you volunteer and see it as part of your life’s mission. The sky is the limit.

To apply, please send a letter outlining your fit for this position and a resume and/or portfolio of your work. Don’t be afraid to send anything else that tells your story and outlines your knowledge around real estate, construction, social enterprise, program development, training and entrepreneurship. You can send us everything by email to seth at loanfund.ca. We have a pretty short timeline: Sunday, March 25th. Position starts in April.
