Training Resources for Youth (TRY) is one of the many programs of New Directions. T.R.Y. provides comprehensive wrap around services to multi-barrier youth ages 16 – 19. T.R.Y. has a mandate to attach youth to the labour force or assist them in returning to school.
T.R.Y. is hiring the following:
Full-Time Instructor
As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Instructor’s responsibilities will be carried out in a culturally knowledgeable manner and will include:
- The facilitation of learning for mutli-barriered, high risk youth
- Development and implementation of group/individualized activities to enhance literacy, life skills, personal development and cultural awareness
- Creation of a safe, positive learning environment
- Provision of appropriate structure and behavioural management
Qualifications:
- Skilled in facilitating learning in academics, life skills, and personal development for individuals of differing levels of functioning and abilities in both group and one to one format
- Ability to create a safe and positive learning environment through classroom structure, behavioural management, and group techniques
- Experience working with youth and knowledge of the issues associated with marginalized youth
- Demonstrated awareness, and inclusiveness of multi-cultural beliefs and lifestyles
- Energetic and creative, with excellent team, time management, and organizational skills
The salary for this regular, full time position will be in the range of $33,197-$46,477 per annum.
