New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities. 

Work2It is one of the many programs offered by New Directions. Work2It provides wrap around care management, life and employment skills as well as on the job training for young men 16 – 24 years old who are involved with the Justice System and have multiple barriers to success in life. Work2It requires a full-time, term case manager. 

Responsibilities include: Intake/assessment, counselling, consulting, advocacy, referrals, documentation, treatment planning, goal development, job search, employment negotiation and evaluation. 

Applicants must have: 

  • Undergraduate degree in social services 
  • Minimum of five years working with this population 
  • Knowledge of the issues related to high risk youth 
  • Knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to Indigenous Cultures and Traditions and be inclusive of multi-cultural beliefs and lifestyles 
  • Experience providing counselling and working with substance abuse, disabilities, mental health and trauma issues as well as proficiency in negotiation and collaborating with systems 
  • Experience in case management and carrying a case load. 
  • Excellent team skills 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, especially with youth 
  • Must have access to a vehicle and must have a valid driver’s license 
  • Knowledge of the labour market 
  • Job search and employment negotiation skills 

This is a full-time position for a 6-month term. The salary range for this position is $33,197 - $46,477 per annum, based on a 35 hour work week. The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse & Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks.
