As the Director, Talent Management, you guide the development and implementation of thoughtful people practices. You are experienced in building a hiring brand and in recruiting high performing team members who thrive and align with the values of our organization. You bring broad talent management experience and a desire to make a difference in our community.
We are a diverse and inclusive team that highly values visionary leadership, compassion, innovation, respect and openness. Reporting to the VP, Finance and Internal Services, the Director, Talent Management will:
- Build a hiring brand by strengthening partnerships with local institutions and associations, and attending industry events
- Manage the talent acquisition process including the formation of job descriptions, market research, job posting optimization, screening interviews, offers, and onboarding
- Regularly scan and assess human resources issues, trends, gaps, and opportunities that could impact or improve the organization’s operations
- Work with management teams to create and maintain an inclusive work environment that demonstrates cultural
- competence and diversity
- Develop and oversee progressive people management policies and programs
- Provide support, guidance and coaching to people managers on people-related matters
- Enhance and maintain HR infrastructure including our applicant tracking system, agreement management, compensation database, vacation day process, and health and benefits administration.
- Develop and implement effective performance and career development tools and processes that support employees to achieve their full potential
- Collaborate with Unifor Local 191, the union representing our administrative staff (approximately 25% of our workforce)
- Support the VP, Finance and Internal Services with organizational development and collective bargaining
- Provide leadership to the administrative team that welcomes guests to our building and provides support to the CEO
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline
- Minimum 7-10 years’ relevant experience including at least 2 years direct supervisory experience
- Extensive recruiting experience
- Current CPHR designation an asset
- Ability to easily and deeply connect with people, solve complex people problems & diffuse difficult situations
- Comfortable with having both strategic and hands on tactical responsibilities in a dynamic organization
- An engaging and empathetic communication style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Can develop innovative ideas and embraces change to enhance results
- Familiarity with labour law and employment standards
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and HR support software
