The Counselling Program Manager is a member of the Management Team and reports to the Executive Director. They supervise the Counselling Program Team and are responsible for the overall leadership and implementation of the Counselling Programs at North End Women's Centre.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in the social services field
- Minimum two (2) years experience providing day to day supervision and program management in a management/leadership role
- Minimum of two (2) years experience providing clinical supervision to counselling staff
- Minimum three (3) years experience providing individual and group counselling to women who have experienced gender based violence
- Experience in the development, organization, and facilitation of groups and programs for women of diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of, and experience working with Indigenous people particularly in terms of the historical context, traditions, teachings as well as the unique barriers some Indigenous women face
- Experience working in a community based setting in the North End of Winnipeg an asset
- Knowledge of a variety of different counselling techniques; the impact of poverty, addictions, violence, and dependency on women; and related resources in the community
- Ability to effectively motivate and lead a team
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Non-judgmental and accepting attitude
- Strong administrative, time management, organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
- Valid driver¡¦s license, access to a safe vehicle and satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Register Check
- Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered
Responsibilities
- To support, mentor, and provide guidance to the Counselling Team, students/volunteers assigned to the Counselling Program and Summer Program
- To provide day to day supervision of Counselling Team members and ensure adherence to all policies and procedures
- To lead regular group debriefing sessions, team meetings and file and program audits
- To oversee approved program budget and authorized spending accordingly
- To participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, orientation, training and performance review of staff
- To initiate and conduct annual performance reviews for the Counselling Team
- To respond to grievances brought forward from team and to ensure workplace health and safety procedures are in place in the Counselling and Summer Program.
- To monitor counselling waitlist, assign caseload and create drop-in counselling schedule
- To conduct in person intakes for women requesting counselling; information, referral and support as needed
- To oversee the planning and development of programs and services within the Counselling
- and Summer Program
- To develop and monitor the annual Counselling Team Work and Evaluation Plans
- To prepare and submit monthly program and annual reports to the Executive Director,
- funders and others as needed
- To participate in management and all staff meetings
- To participate in relevant training opportunities and annual performance appraisals
- To attend community events and meetings and to sit on community committees as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned, consistent with this job description and approved by Centre policies, procedures, and Executive Director
Job Status: Permanent Full Time - 37.5 hours a week (Tues, Thurs and Friday 8:30-4:30; Mon and Wed evenings available until 7:30pm) *flexible schedule is required
Salary Range: $44,850¡V$62,400 (dependent on qualifications and experience)
