POSITION: Aboriginal Vision Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Term to March 31, 2019 (possible extension dependent on funding)
LOCATION: 445 King Street
SALARY: Subject to Qualifications
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Aboriginal Vision Coordinator provides leadership, coordination and administration for all activities and programming that work to create and implement an Aboriginal vision for the renewal of the North End of Winnipeg, especially the region surrounding Selkirk Avenue.
KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience working in the Aboriginal community, particularly in the North End of Winnipeg;
- Demonstrated experience working in community development;
- Strong motivational and leadership skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including effective use of computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite;
- Community service orientated to effectively meet needs in a timely manner;
- A team player encouraging an environment that fosters effective results;
- Respectful in order to engage people and build helping relationships;
- Flexible in order to respond effectively and positively in diverse relationships;
- Maintain a high level of independence and self-initiative;
- Supervisory experience;
- Must submit to mandatory Child Abuse Registry / Prior Contact Check and Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening for a sexual offense for which a pardon has not been granted or issued.
