Wage: $11.35/hr
Start June 17 to Aug 9 (8 Weeks)

Local Investment Toward Employment (LITE) is a charity that creates employment, training and social enterprise experiences in Winnipeg’s poorest neighbourhoods, and supports the burgeoning social enterprise sector with education and knowledge-sharing activities.

We are hiring two summer students to create promotions that support and champion social enterprises in Winnipeg. Candidates will be interested in learning skills around marketing using social media and developing promotional activities; are knowledgeable or willing to learn about social enterprise and Winnipeg’s non-profit sector; and are familiar with Winnipeg’s inner city neighbourhoods.

About the positions

LITE’s Social Enterprise Ambassadors help bring LITE’s social enterprise products and community-based organizations supporting employment to markets and festivals in Winnipeg Centre. Their role is to share information with the public about “buying social” and introduce people to existing social enterprises. They will also help sell LITE Box (a gift box of products made by employment-based social enterprises) and support LITE partner organizations with unique promotions at various locations in Winnipeg Centre.

Ambassadors promote products customers can buy online (shop.lite.mb.ca) or in-person using Square. They track sales and educate customers on the social impact of each product offered.

Qualifications

  • Interest or experience in events, promotion and social media marketing.
  • Interest in learning about community economic development, including social enterprise.
  • Creative, “go-getter” and willingness to engage general public.
  • OK to work in team setting (Ambassadors always work in a pair!) and independently.
  • Job requires some sales tracking, and an interest in great customer service.
  • Access to a cell phone (wifi only is OK). A vehicle is an asset, but not necessary.

Job Requirements

Youth must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.

Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
