The Director, Strategic Resource Development has a key leadership role in positioning United Way as a leading-edge organization that is responsive to the needs of individual donors and corporate/workplace partners. With a keen eye on trends and emerging issues in philanthropy, the Director develops suites of services that further our partners’ philanthropic and business objectives; leads a team responsible for new business development, programs to engage multiple generations, and research; and co-develops custom impact products

Reporting to the Vice President, Donor Relations & Resource Development, this role:
Leads the development of innovative approaches that contribute to effective corporate/workplace partnerships, donor relations, and fundraising programs.
Focuses on the fundraising element of custom impact products that are designed to achieve specific community outcomes, and serve as investment opportunities for:
Corporate partners interested in advancing their efforts in corporate social responsibility and social purpose; employee engagement; leadership development; and brand enhancement
Individuals and families interested in strategic and visionary philanthropy to address critical and emerging issues in our community.
Stays abreast of emerging technology opportunities to enhance workplace and individual giving, and donor stewardship, and provides business leadership in technology implementation.
Manages a dedicated staff team and engages volunteers to broaden United Way’s reach through:
Identifying and pursuing new business development prospects
Using data and research to target and maximize potential improvement opportunities, and support program development
Creating exciting programs designed to specifically engage different generations in the work of United Way.
Liaises with the United Way movement provincially, nationally and worldwide.
Qualifications
You are an inspiring team leader with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and establish partnership relationships. You also possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and related experience:
B.Comm, or other relevant post-secondary degree, and 5-7 years related experience
Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to organize and implement plans and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Account relationship management experience, and experience with CRM systems, are assets
Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, with a keen ability to synthesize and present complex information in a simple, compelling, meaningful way
Ability to facilitate discussions, and experience presenting to small and large groups across sectors
Excellent analytical and critical/strategic thinking skills including problem-solving abilities
Initiative, intellectual curiosity and a passionate interest in making Winnipeg a better place
