Information System (HIFIS) Specialist

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Reaching Home and working as part of a team, the HIFIS Specialist is responsible for training, support and administration in the implementation of a shared Information System for Housing Support and Homelessness Serving Agencies; troubleshoot usability issues and communicate improvement or ongoing usability issues with the team; and support overall coordination, implementation, analysis and reporting of the shared information system including the HIFIS4 in Winnipeg and related Information management. Specifically, the HIFIS Specialist will:

  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Director, Manager of Evaluation & Measurement, Staff Team and multiple participating agencies, ensuring shared information system polices, procedures and security practices are monitored and maintained
  • Become a HIFIS4 expert, supporting system functionality by playing a key role in the administration of a HIFIS information system
  • Coordinate with Local Administration teams to schedule, provide and track training opportunities and requirements
  • Design queries and support data analysis and reporting requests from various community stakeholders
  • Understand community members (individuals experiencing homelessness) Privacy and Information Rights and communicate to HIFIS users and stakeholders
  • Assist new and participating organizations in implementing and operating HIFIS4
  • Work with the managed service provider and other consultants and contractors to ensure the effective and uninterrupted delivery HIFIS4

You are collaborative, creative, and passionate about working with the community. You have the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and related experience:

  • A relevant post-secondary degree/diploma in a related discipline (Management, Computer Science, Social Work, Economics, Data Driven Change Management)
  • Knowledge of community issues (such as homelessness, colonization, poverty reduction, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in project management and process analysis
  • Excellent computer and application skills with some relational database/SQL experience
  • Understanding of Privacy Legislation, Client Services and Shared Information Systems
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) complex technical and non-technical issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and within a team environment
  • Access to a vehicle for transportation

Salary range: $55,358.66--$64,175.86 depending on qualifications and experience

This unionized, permanent full-time position falls under MGEU Local 439
