Status: Permanent Full-Time
The Indigenous Innovation Initiative (I3) is seeking a Program Coordinator, to ensure the efficient, high quality project coordination and execution of programmatic activities of the Indigenous Innovation Initiative, in a manner that respects and adheres to the vision and principles of the Indigenous Innovation Initiative.
The Initiative serves to empower Indigenous people and communities to identify and solve their own challenges through innovative ideas that will transform lives and make positive change. The Initiative seeks to provide flexible funding to Indigenous innovators in Canada, working to solve challenges that will make an impact at all levels of community including nationally. The Initiative takes a holistic approach founded on Indigenous values and knowledge. The Indigenous Innovation Initiative is hosted by and backed by the expert team of Grand Challenges Canada (GCC).

Reporting directly to the Director Indigenous Innovation Initiative (I3), the I3 Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the activities of the Indigenous Innovation Initiative projects, including but not limited to the following tasks and activities: coordinating program-related activities; coordinating the monitoring and close-out of existing grants and contracts; managing negotiation process for new grants and contracts; managing application intake and review processes; knowledge management and translation of project and programmatic data; supporting quality improvement and streamlining processes cross-departmentally; providing other programmatic and organizational support.
Qualifications:
- Ideally at least two (2) years related program support and / or project coordination and / or grant administration experience required
- Must have demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, agencies, institutions, and/or political bodies in Canada
- Significant knowledge of Indigenous context in Canada; ability to speak an Indigenous language will be considered an asset
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or recognized equivalent
- Masters’ degree in a discipline of high relevance (e.g. Indigenous Studies, Global or Public health, Business Administration, Policy, etc.) is preferred
- Project Management experience; certification an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency with word-processing, database and spreadsheet software (including but not limited to the Microsoft Office suite)
- Demonstrated commitment to impact
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a team
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
