Stakeholder Relationships and Project Manager for the Common Approach to Impact Measurement project at Carleton University

Salary: Range of $60,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on experience, with comprehensive benefits package.
The posting is for a full-time position, but reduced and/or flexible work hours can be negotiated.
Duration: Carleton University employee term contact until March of 2021 with possibility of renewal.

The Common Approach to Impact Measurement project of Carleton University is looking for a dynamic person to help grow and shape the initiative.
Do you love to get up in front of people to pitch an innovative idea? Are you passionate about impact measurement and the good it can do in the world? Are you highly motivated, an initiative-taker, and hard worker? Are you a clear and persuasive communicator?
Do you have an advanced degree related to impact measurement? Have you worked with organizations to improve their impact measurement? Or worked on fundraising with a philanthropic foundation? Or worked on investing with an impact investor? Or perhaps even developed a data ontology? Then we are looking for you!
The position will work very closely with the project director to take on increasing responsibilities with regards to key stakeholder relationships, fundraising, and project direction. The position reports to the project director.
The position requires the person to be highly independent. You will be responsible for managing your own time with regular check-ins with the project director and the project team. The project team is a small but mighty team of three people (Project Director, Project Manager, Communications & Marketing Coordinator) supported by administration and finance staff at Carleton University.
The Common Approach to Impact Measurement Project is part of a long-term vision of developing a flexible (non-rigid, meaningful) standard for social impact measurement in Canada. Why? So that social enterprises and social-purpose non-profit organizations can better illustrate their individual and collective impact and tell their story, and so that social impact investors can more easily identify these organizations to support the good work these organizations are doing to address complex social problems. This position is funded through grant funding from the Investment Readiness Program of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), to continue this work until March of 2021. Further funding is being secured for continuation of the initiative past March of 2021.
In this position, you will:
- Work closely with key stakeholders, including but not limited to potential funders, to develop strong commitment and engagement to the long-term vision of the initiative.
- Develop strategies for achieving high engagement and commitment of key stakeholders.
- Represent the project in an official capacity in different contexts to a variety of actors.
- Support and eventually lead the development of selected standards being developed by the initiative.
- Lead initiatives as required.
- Undertake project management tasks as needed.
- Support the various activities of the initiative.

Skills, knowledge and experience:
- Advanced degree related to impact measurement. Ph D a preferred asset.
- Extensive knowledge of impact measurement is essential.
- Significant knowledge of impact investing, social enterprise, social innovation, the non-profit sector in Canada.
- Extensive knowledge of data standards and data ontologies is a preferred asset.
- Demonstrated applied experience in one or all of the following:
- Impact measurement (ex., you have worked with organizations to help them measure their impact)
- Fundraising or grant making with foundations and/or investors (ex. You have been involved in grant making with a philanthropic foundation or investing with an impact investor)
- Data standards and data ontologies (ex., you have developed a data ontology)
- Knowledge of social justice issues in the context of social innovation.
- Evidence of successfully pitching an idea that was then adopted by many actors.
- Persuasive and clear communicator.
- Experience with managing stakeholder relationships.
- Experience developing and leading processes with different actors.
- Experience in social enterprise, the social economy or community economic development an asset.
- Project management skills.
- Strong English language skills – both verbal and written.
- Fluency in French an asset.
