This work experience placement is part of the CreateAction Inclusive Social Innovation program. The Business Coordinator will be part of a network of 25 CreateAction participants and will join in regular peer learning and training sessions throughout the 6 month work experience, delivered by the program partners: the Canadian CED Network and the National Association of Friendship Centres.

Reporting to the Owner/Chief Executive Officer of OnePeopleTO (OPTO), the primary duties and responsibilities of the Business Coordinator are the following:
Hard Skills
- Supporting the dissemination of social media strategy and implementation by researching applicable statistics and demographic needs
- Create and maintain a database for event attendee & subscription information;
- Update and maintain grant/funding sources information in database;
- Communicating event inquiries to Owner/CEO for monthly event coordination;
- Maintaining an event calendar; timely creation & sharing of events, event registration pages and on OnePeopleTO website;
- Supporting the business operations by helping to source and/or organize supporting documents for funding projects; creating email automations for testimonials etc.
- May occasionally be asked to be on-site for events.
Soft Skills
- Prioritizing tasks to keep multiple initiatives moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals;
- Maintain productive relationships with investors and vendors;
- Contribute to a collaborative and positive work environment by engaging in information sharing and regular communication, attending biweekly staff meetings, participating in events, representing OPTO at external events and conferences when applicable and assisting with other minor duties as assigned.
Character Profile & Key Competencies
- Technical & creative skills for funding or grant proposals, marketing & branding;
- Warm & effective and demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills;
- Curious, creative and resourceful.
Qualifications:
To be eligible to participate in the Canadian CED Network CreateAction: Inclusive Social Innovation Program funded position, individuals must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of placement;
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Be legally entitled to work according to Ontario regulations; and
- Be experiencing one or more barrier to employment and/or
- Be currently not in education, employment or training (NEET)
Those recognized to be experiencing barriers to employment include youth who are Indigenous, Black, racialized, LGBTQ2S+, newcomers to Canada, francophone, and/or live with a disability.
