Job Summary:

The Youth Education and Network Coordinator will work on developing youth-focused and youthled educational videos and learning materials about co-operatives and building a provincial network of youth interested in co-operatives.

This work experience placement is part of the CreateAction Inclusive Social Innovation program. The Youth Education and Network Coordinator will be part of a network of 25 CreateAction participants and will join in regular peer learning and training sessions throughout the 6 month work experience, delivered by the program partners: the Canadian CED Network and the National Association of Friendship Centres.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and promotes co-operative focused educational videos and learning materials for youth.
  • Conducts research and a needs assessment related to establishing a youth network in Saskatchewan.
  • Facilitates the establishment of a youth network in Saskatchewan, focused on cooperatives, community economic development and social innovation.
  • Promotes the co-operative model as a mechanism for community and economic development.
  • Prepares regular progress reports for SCA Members and other stakeholders, as required.
  • Participate in CreateAction peer learning activities, and virtual learning sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in adult education, youth education, video development, communications and/or a combination of education and 2-3 years’ experience is preferred.
  • Direct experience developing videos or educational material would be beneficial.

  • Analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function independently and within a team environment.
  • Presentation skills.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Proficiency with Video Editing software, video camera, and microphone operation.
  • Experience developing surveys or doing research.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Works primarily in an office environment, possibly remotely (due to the pandemic).

The Successful Applicant Must Meet the Following Criteria:

  • is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of placement;
  • is a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • is legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations; and
  • is experiencing one or more barriers to employment; and/or
  • is not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

Compensation

  • This position will pay $19/hour for 37.5 hours per week for the duration of the work term.
