Your Role:

We are currently seeking a Sustainability Coordinator who will be responsible for implementing the sustainability strategy of APC and working across business units to track key performance indicators, identify green initiatives, and work to make APC more environmentally friendly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write proposals and reports to advance the sustainability goals of APC.
  • Tracking of progress on current APC Sustainability goals and working with others to update the Sustainability Strategy when required.
  • Promote and participate in conservation and sustainability projects and initiatives.
  • Support the maintenance of various sustainable certifications.
  • Research and prepare grant funding opportunities, reports and papers, posters, and presentations.
  • Collect data in accordance with international sustainability standards, scientific rigor, and APC policies and procedures
  • Assist student research projects where necessary
  • Conduct statistical data analysis
  • Conduct ongoing measuring, monitoring, and auditing of APC environmental impact and sustainability strategies.
  • Work with staff to garner support and achieve APC sustainability goals.
  • Encourage and support viable sustainability programs initiated by staff.
  • Coordinate and promote staff participation in activities that promote environmental stewardship (e.g., Commuter Challenge, Earth Day).
  • Participate in APC committees relating to sustainability and sustainability program leadership.
  • Participate on departmental teams and committees as requested to act as an environmental consultant and support sustainable solutions.
  • Work with Marketing and Community Engagement to prepare internal communications, interpretive content, and sustainability messaging.
  • Serve as a resource to various levels of staff and management regarding sustainability issues, monitoring emerging trends, programs, and issues and educating others on sustainability issues.
  • Work collaboratively to write funding applications for grants to support sustainability projects.
  • Write funding applications to support seasonal and contract staff.
  • Assist or manage sustainability projects including tracking progress and spending, and reporting to funders.
  • Participate in recruitment, training, supervision of students and volunteers
  • Develop, deliver talks and presentations on APC sustainability programs.
  • Respond to general inquiries from the public while still performing required tasks
  • Follow all APC Policies & Procedures and comply with all APC safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for both staff and general public.

What you will need to have:

  • A post-secondary degree in science, environmental science, environmental studies, sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience with integrating sustainability practice within an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience writing grants, and grant reports.
  • Experience conducting waste audits.
  • Experience compiling data needed to determine greenhouse gas inventories.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office software and cloud based collaboration tools (i.e., SharePoint, Google Drive, and Slack).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Familiarity and/or proficiency with statistical analysis is an asset.
  • Experience in leading and coordinating teams is an asset.
  • Knowledge of green building design, construction and operation, as well as familiarity with the LEED system and other green building designations such as BOMA Best or Green Globes is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s License.
