Summer Program Coordinator, North End Women’s Centre

NEWC is located on Treaty 1 territory on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. NEWC facilitates opportunities for women-identified people in healing, wellness and capacity building through diverse community-centred approaches.

These positions report to the Community Development & Engagement Manager and are responsible for organizing recreational summer activities and providing information and referral to women and children in the Winnipeg’s North End Community. These positions will also work across NEWC’s other programs which include, Drop In Program, Newcomer Settlement Program, Outreach program, etc…
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
- is between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
- is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
Event organization duties:
- Plan, promote, set-up, and deliver recreation activities for women and their children (including cultural opportunities)
- Secure donations for the program as needed
- Provide feedback form to evaluate and report on the Summer Program
- Responsible for completing wrap up report.
Information and referral duties:
- Provide information about programs and services available for women and their children at NEWC
- Provide resources and referrals to community women about other community services
- Responsible for social media poster and communication regarding summer program
The above position will provide youth (up to age 30) with the opportunity to work with women and families while
obtaining employment skills, knowledge and experience in event planning and organization, Drop in Centre and
Outreach work, working with families in the Inner City, and working with a non-profit organization in a community
based environment.
Wage: $15.00/hr, plus 4% vacation pay
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm (35.0 hours per week)
Duration: June 14, 2021 – August 21, 2021 (10 weeks)
