What are we looking for?
An early career policy generalist who is a stellar communicator and passionate about advocacy and public policy development. The Policy Analyst will contribute to the achievement of ONN’s policy agenda through research, analysis, and writing, as well as engaging the ONN network in policy advocacy campaigns. The successful candidate will enjoy working with a small team (13 staff) in a “get stuff done” environment, and will have a passion for working with a variety of Ontario nonprofits.

What will the Policy Analyst do?
Reporting to the Director of Policy, and working with ONN’s staff, Policy Committee and various working groups, the Policy Analyst will be responsible for:
- Policy research, analysis, development, and implementation of advocacy campaigns, focused on priorities within ONN’s four main public policy areas that critically affect the ability of nonprofits to achieve their missions.
- Coordinating ONN’s government relations activities (meeting preparation, records management, tracking outcomes, etc.).
- Convening and providing policy/logistics support for ONN’s Policy Committee and working groups.
- Convening informal policy networks and presenting to groups of nonprofits on public policy issues
- Supporting programming and activities for ONN’s annual provincial conference.
- Participating in organization-wide strategies on anti-racism/anti-oppression, truth and reconciliation, and data management (Salesforce).
Required qualifications
- Post-secondary education in public policy, nonprofit management, political studies, economics, or other related fields, or related experience.
- A strategic and critical thinker, with strong policy development, analysis, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Ability to design, plan and carry out complex projects by established timelines.
- Job experience working in the nonprofit sector (2-3 years minimum).
- A team player who exhibits and embraces the values of ONN.
Preferred experience
- Training and/or experience in Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism/anti-oppression.
- Training and/or experience with financial/economic analysis and/or survey administration.
- Database management and/or experience with Salesforce CRM and/or experience with advocacy campaign software (e.g., NationBuilder, SalsaEngage, NewMode).

- Open-concept office based at Yonge and St. Clair, Toronto, Ontario (This position is eligible for work-from-home arrangements until the pandemic-related public health guidelines permit the resumption of office work in Ontario)
