The Canadian CED Network is seeking a dynamic, organized, and collaborative person with a strong understanding of community economic development, community engagement, and event planning to fill the position of Events & Engagement Coordinator. This role is based out of our Manitoba regional office at the Social Enterprise Centre office in Winnipeg. The team works flexibly from both remote and in-person situations, depending on public health and personal circumstances.
The Manitoba regional network is robust, collaborative, and focused on a local strategic action plan. Our work in the region is currently shaped around Network Weaving, including an active public policy agenda; Manitoba Learns, including events throughout the year and an annual conference; and the Spark Service, a capacity building program matching community based organizations and social enterprises with needed development resources. These activities are aiming to build strength, knowledge, connection, and ultimately power towards transformative change in our communities.
This position contributes directly to the Network Weaving and Manitoba Learns areas of our mandate, and is a key staff person ensuring we engage with members and make connections to the broader sector. The successful candidate will be comfortable building relationships with others and providing support to groups and collectives of people. Responsible for member and network engagement meetings and coordinating learning and skill-building activities, they will use solid event planning and communication skills to create learning and networking events that bring people together. They are a strong communicator that can contribute to good relationships and provide clear and accessible information about network activities.
Reporting to the Manitoba Network Manager, the Events & Engagement Coordinator will join and support a collaborative, caring, dynamic, efficient, and flexible working environment with the staff team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- (Network Weaving) Ensure CCEDNet – Manitoba is engaging with its membership and the broader sector through:
- Contributing to our membership relationship and recruitment strategy alongside other team members through a variety of engagement tactics.
- Coordinating all aspects of the annual member meeting and supporting the annual Policy Summit with event planning and logistics.
- Providing administrative support to meetings and gatherings of the various coalitions and groups that CCEDNet Manitoba convenes, including meeting arrangement, note-taking, and document preparation.
- Coordinating local communications as time permits, including:
- A monthly newsletter and website updates for the Manitoba region
- Members-only communications
- Coordinating with national communications staff to cross-promote and ensure effective communication of our work, particularly for social media
- Occasionally representing CCEDNet Manitoba at various external meetings or events
- (Manitoba Learns) Help coordinate CCEDNet Manitoba’s learning program, which includes our annual conference The Gathering of Community Builders as well as a mix of workshops, skill-building series, and/or information sessions. Planning the program offerings will occur alongside other staff. The Events & Engagement Coordinator will take the lead on:
- Executing logistical planning of the learning program
- Marketing and promotions
- Day-of delivery of learning program sessions
- Evaluating and reporting on the learning program
- Support for The Gathering (note: this will be a team event with special event coordination support, specific roles are determined collaboratively)
- Other related duties as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relationship building and ability to connect with people across a variety of sectors and locations
- Demonstrated experience with program coordination and/or event planning and execution is necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written, for a variety of mediums and audiences). Comfort and experience with online group and/or meeting facilitation is an asset.
- Knowledge of and commitment to community economic development and social justice
- Alignment with CCEDNet’s values and commitment to gender equity, poverty reduction, reconciliation, anti-racism / anti-oppression, diversity, and inclusion.
- Relevant post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience in a related field such as CED, non-profit administration, adult or community-based education, event planning, or communications
- Organization and detail management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
- Marketing or communications experience an asset
- Familiarity with G-Suite (Google Apps) is recommended, and familiarity with communications platforms Wordpress, MailChimp, variety of social media platforms is an asset
CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS
This is a permanent position based in Winnipeg, starting immediately. It is 0.8 FTE at 30 hours / week. Starting salary range $32,959 - 37,270 annually plus benefits which include:
