A Cross-Canada Convergence

Over 230 community champions attended the return of Canada's National CED Conference, ECONOUS2016 and helped make it a successful event full of sharing and movement building. 

The Story of a New Dawn

Rankin MacSween, Executive Director of New Dawn Enterprises in Sydney, Nova Scotia (celebrating its 40th anniversary this year!) and honorary lifetime member of the Canadian CED Network, helped to set the tone for the conference with a form of storytelling that feels unfamiliar in this age of TED Talks and elevator pitches. Rankin took participants on a journey through the valley of death, emerging with three fundamental principles for community resilience: Faith, Hope, and Freedom. 

Inspiring and Challenging Conversations

ECONOUS2016 catalysed many inspiring and challenging conversations. In particular, participants were encouraged to explore the following questions together: 

What can we celebrate and carry forward in CED?

What strategic opportunities are before us now?

What's next for CED and what stewardship is needed?

A wealth of resources were generated by the conference.  Check out the presentations from over 50 workshops, videos from the thought-provoking plenary sessions and some of the 1,500 tweets and photos.
