About the Position
Food Matters Manitoba is seeking a part-time Community Liaison, 20 hours per week, $15-$17/hr based on qualifications for 6 months. The Community Liaison is responsible for connecting with partners of the Manitoba Food Security Network with a particular focus on farm to cafeteria projects and facilitating community development based on recent and current food assessment projects.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the executive director, the successful applicant will:
- Build awareness of Farm to Cafeteria Canada and network among provincial farm to cafeteria partners with a view to enhancing activities
- Support pilot Farm to Cafeteria schools as needed
- Support the needs assessment and strategic planning processes of Farm to Cafeteria Canada
- Liaise with key St Vital organizations to support implementation of the vision outlined in the St Vital Community Food Assessment
- Support other St Vital activities as time and community need express themselves
- Coordinate and document two annual meetings of the Manitoba Food Security Network
- Network with members of the Manitoba Food Security Network as time allows
- Support the Community Food Assessment coordinator by facilitating activities in food assessment neighbourhoods
- Liaise with Winnipeg FoodShare Co-op
- Prepare appropriate funder reporting
- Identify additional funding for community liaison position
- Promote the work of Food Matters Manitoba
Qualifications:
- Have a strong interest in and knowledge of food security issues within Winnipeg
- Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with the public
- Experience in community development
- Knowledge of Winnipeg food security organizations and activities
- Highly organized with proven attention to detail
- Self motivated and a team player
- High problem solving ability
- Able to work flexible hours
- Able to exercise independent judgment but work well as part of a team
- Skills in meeting management and community facilitation are an asset
