The Office for Social Enterprise leads the move to support and attract entrepreneurs and investors that can deliver social good while generating revenue. As the next Director, Social Enterprise, you will:

  • Direct and lead the development, implementation, and management of the Ministry's social enterprise strategy.
  • Promote the Office for Social Enterprise as the lead coordinating body within the Government, and facilitate social enterprise organizations in accessing social enterprise programs and/or private investors.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader with superior relationship management expertise who will provide direction and oversight for the execution of social enterprise strategic initiatives.

In this pivotal role you will:

Be a visionary
Implement strategic and program directions for social enterprise policies and programs stipulated in the Social Enterprise Strategy

Champion service excellence
Direct the programs and operations of the Branch, its staff and the achievement of its objectives for social enterprise policies and programs

Establish and maintain partnerships
As an excellent communicator with strong leadership and relationship-building skills, you will build and maintain effective partnerships with internal stakeholders, Federal/ Municipal Governments and community groups

Model leadership
Support and promote a productive team environment which reflects the fostering of a culture of excellence and the creation of an inclusive, diverse, equitable, respectful and accessible work place

Stakeholder Management Communications and Political Acuity

  • You have proven ability to manage complex relationships and maintain key contacts at all levels of government and other organizations.
  • You have sound judgement on sensitive and political issues and have managed high-profile issues.
  • You have superior verbal and written communication skills level, allowing for effective stakeholder relations.
  • You have demonstrated political acumen to engage and manage high profile stakeholders in a politically complex environment, forging collaborative relationships.
  • You can develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Knowledge

  • You have or can quickly acquire knowledge of:
    • the ministry's social enterprise strategy, functions and responsibilities
    • government policy and program development and decision making processes
    • government agenda, priorities and the ministry's vision
  • You understand and have experience with human resource, administrative, financial and budget allocation policies, processes and systems.
  • You have knowledge of outreach and marketing techniques, strategies, and practises.
