The Social Research and Demonstration Corporation is a non-profit organization primarily involved in the design, research, and evaluation of social programs and policies. Since 1991, we have been building a base of knowledge and experience about what works in employment, education, health, and social policy. While SRDC is recognized across Canada, and internationally, as a leader in the design, implementation, and evaluation of large-scale demonstration projects, we also conduct program evaluation, impact analysis, and cost–benefit analysis for a wide range of government and non-governmental organizations, in particular those involved in the delivery of services to economically disadvantaged populations.
SRDC is seeking a dynamic, full-time researcher for its Toronto office with a strong interest in employment and labour market policy. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of studies and innovative policy research initiatives in areas such as: workforce development, employment and training services, youth employment, and labour market integration of immigrants, people with disabilities, and people in long-term receipt of social assistance.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Developing survey instruments and protocols;
- Conducting literature and document reviews;
- Analyzing and interpreting quantitative data; conducting statistical analysis (e.g., regression);
- Data organization and management;
- Participating in the design of logic models and evaluation frameworks;
- Contributing to presentations and reports on research findings; and
- Developing evaluation and research proposals in response to specific client needs.
Candidate qualifications:
- A graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in a social science (with courses in quantitative research methods) combined with some experience in an applied research environment;
- Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and research methodology;
- Experience using statistical programming tools to analyze microdata (i.e., individual-level data files);
- Experience designing research studies and survey instruments;
- Strong writing skills in English; capacity to work in French is considered an asset;
- Ability to present research results clearly and concisely; and
- Capable of working in a self-directed manner as well as collaborating in a team environment.
