Term Contract: (Part-time) – Project Officer
Contract Position:    (10 weeks, starting ASAP)

The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation is a coalition of organizations involved in international development, who are committed to:

MCIC’s mission as a coordinating structure is to promote public awareness of international issues, to foster member interaction, and to administer funds for international development.

Overview:

MCIC is seeking a self-starter with excellent people skills, knowledge of international development projects and Canadian NGOs. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills. This is a part-time term position,
requiring some evening meetings.

Contract Profile:

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Project Officer will be responsible for the administration and implementation of the remaining components of the 2015-2016 Manitoba Government Matching Grant Program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Administration of the Manitoba Government Matching Grant Program (MGMGP)

  • Conducts initial review of all Theme Fund proposals to ensure technical compliance with requirements as detailed in the current funding guide
  • Schedules, coordinates and attends meetings and takes minutes of the project review committees
  • Responds to inquiries about the application/review process, and provides feedback when appropriate
  • Prepares MGMGP reports for Board of Directors
  • Communicates Board decisions to applicants
  • Facilitates disbursements, assessments of levies
  • Ensures project data is entered and updated in MCIC’s database
  • Coordinates review of final reports by committee members
  • Prepares final reports for the Government of Manitoba, the Board of Directors, and MCIC’s member agencies

  • Ensuring details are handled accurately and in a timely fashion

  • Bringing energy and commitment to the workplace

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Degree or Diploma in the area of International Development would be an asset.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A background or working knowledge of International Development
  • Knowledge of the Manitoba NGO Community
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work diplomatically with others to set goals, resolve conflicts and make decisions that enhance the effectiveness of MCIC
  • Highly organized and focused attention to details
  • Project management experience would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivating but able to work as part of a team
  • Experience working in non-profit sector an asset

Proficiency in computer applications:

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel

Working Conditions

  • Flexible – office environment on site at MCIC, there may be some flexibility to work from home
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends or additional hours to accommodate activities such as committee meeting.
Position:    21-25 hours/week (contract)
Wages: $18 to $22/hour
