National Conference and Communications Assistant
The Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is inviting applications for a National Conference and Communications Assistant based out of our office in Toronto, Ontario. The National Conference and Communications Assistant’s primary responsibilities will be providing support to the National Conference and Membership Engagement Coordinator in the marketing and promotion of EconoUs2017, CCEDNet’s annual national conference.
ABOUT THE CANADIAN CED NETWORK
The Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is a values-based, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the social, economic, and environmental conditions of Canadian communities. We have several hundred members throughout Canada working at the grassroots level in rural, urban, Aboriginal and northern settings. Offering an inclusive learning environment for staff and members, the Network seeks to create opportunities for young people to develop their skills and leadership in building sustainable communities.
DUTIES
- Working with CCEDNet’s communications team to promote EconoUs2017, taking place in Calgary from September 13-15.
- Implementing the conference social media strategy
- Participating in phone campaigns to encourage registration
- Supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of the conference website, econous.ca
- Preparing national email bulletins
- Soliciting contributions from partners, presenters, registrants, etc. to help promote the conference.
- Engaging in media relations and identifying and responding to media engagement opportunities for the conference
- Assisting in the development, design, writing, editing, and publishing of relevant promotional materials
- Other related duties as they arise
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism (English/French) an asset
- Post-secondary college or university degree in a related field
- Experience in event organizing, marketing, and/or promotions
- Knowledge of web-based communication tools. Experience with Drupal, WordPress, social media (including social media management tools), online e-newsletter services an asset
- Proficient in all Microsoft office programs, internet and email
- Detail-oriented, independent, professional, analytical and a self-starter
- Experience, training or expressed interest in community economic development (CED) and/or social enterprise
Location: The preferred location for the successful candidate is with CCEDNet's communications team at our Toronto offices, but exceptional candidates with a proven track record for telework and willingness to travel will be considered.
Compensation: This is a full time term position from mid-June to mid-September 2017. Salary is $19.66 - $22.70/hr depending on qualifications and experience.
