Resilient Communities – A Discussion

11:30am – 2:30pm (CST)
Venue:
Millennium Library, 251 Donald St. WPG., 2nd floor, Anghang Room

FREE presentation!
BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH !

“Resilient Communities – a discussion” will take the form of dialogue; opening with some exercises to delve into core questions that those present are holding in relation to their academic/personal action as researchers, practitioners, and citizens regarding resilient communities. Dr. Wilding will then respond to what emerges by drawing on elements from his experience and research on resilient communities.

Leading the talk is Dr. Nick Wilding, a Fellow of the Centre for Human Ecology, Scotland. His research interests span human ecology, action research, community resilience and organisational transformation. Between 2008 and 2012 Nick worked with Carnegie UK Trust, developing a community of practice for rural resilience innovators across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Since March 2013 he has been working for the Scottish Government, supporting 'disruptive innovators' across Scottish public service organisations who are attempting to transform the cultures of their organisations so as to better achieve wellbeing outcomes for people and communities. Nick lives in Falkland, Fife – where he volunteers time to a local community based organisation that is taking on the stewardship of a 4000 acre estate.
