Public Policy Implementation and its Implications

Free Webinar
November 28

Often new public policy is detected at the launch of a new program. While much attention is paid to getting a new policy approved, the true impact is not fully appreciated until implementation. This webinar sheds light on current policy implementation discourse, provides rural examples, and discusses different action approaches.

On November 28th, RDI will host two live webinar presenters:

Dr. Lars Hallstrom is the Director of the Alberta Centre for Sustainable Rural Communities. The Centre is charged with linking the research, outreach and educational capacity of the University of Alberta with students, researchers, rural communities, rural community organizations and policy makers at multiple levels across the province, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Hallstrom’s work focuses on comparative environmental policy, and particularly on the intersection of politics, science and public policy.

Dr. Charles Conteh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Brock University. He specializes in Public Policy & Management, Political Economy and Governance. His current research focuses on governance structures and processes in complex and dynamic policy systems, particularly examining collaborative and strategic policy formulation and implementation. Dr. Conteh currently investigates how local, regional and national economies are reinventing themselves in the face of seismic global economic changes.

Mechanics Course

The Level 1 workshop is for anyone who has little or no experience with bicycle technology. General mechanical knowledge is helpful, but not required. In each class one section of the bicycle is covered. These include: wheel system, brake system, steering system, multi-gear system, drive system, and frame system.

The classes try to be as hands-on as possible; each student has their own stand, with a student teacher ratio of 1:3! We start with a brief introduction at the beginning of class, and then break into smaller groups for more intensive sessions. Each class comes with a handout.

The goal of the course is to be able to do all minor and most major repairs on your bicycle. Natural Cycle also tries to educate the students to be more confident and knowledgeable consumers when it comes to buying a new bike or replacing parts.

In the workshop all different types of bicycles, bicycle tools and bicycle systems are covered so you will have a better understanding of the components of the bicycle.

The course fee is $189 tax incl. We offer workshops during two sessions: One before the winter holidays and one after. Each session has tuesday, wednesday, and thursday classes to choose from. Once you’ve figured out which night would work best for you, the course runs for 6 weeks. The workshop runs from 7pm-930pm.

The teacher/student ratio is 1:3.

Course fee is $75 tax incl. plus parts. As a part of the course you will receive 15% of all wheel components. (This discount makes the total cost about the same as getting us to  build it for you. But you get to learn!)
