The 2008 Manitoba Research Alliance Student Colloquium

The 2008 Manitoba Research Alliance Student Colloquium will be happening at the end of October and we encourage you to attend!

The Colloquium is meant to allow students working for the MRA to share and
discuss their research. We encourage community partners to come learn about
and respond to the student research being done related to inner-city and
Aboriginal community Development issues in Winnipeg.

The details of the event are as follows:

Friday, October 31, 2008 (costumes welcome)
9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre (MERC)
430 Langside Street, Winnipeg

Coffee and lunch will be provided
Childcare can be arranged if requested in advance.

The MERC is wheelchair accessible.

Canadian Social Forum - Calgary, AB

Canadian Social Forum 

The Canadian Council on Social Development is creating the space for 750 people from across the country to meet face-to-face and participate in a program that meets poverty head-on.

You'll hear about how poverty reduction is being accomplished in ways that are innovative, inspiring and workable. You'll have the opportunity to create new connections with people from every part of the country, help build momentum for real action, and collaborate for effective social change.

This event will connect the new wave of leaders who know that reducing poverty is the only strategy for real prosperity.

Many people who volunteer have concerns about possible liability for their acts if they become directors or officers. Boards of Directors must be aware of and should plan to reduce their exposure to liability. Learn what liabilities and risks Board members face while fulfilling their responsibilities and the potential legal protections available.
