What’s the role?

The Ontario Nonprofit Network works to create and influence system and policy change that will strengthen Ontario’s nonprofit sector- and we’re looking for a dynamic policy expert to join the team. This role would contribute to ONN’s policy agenda through a strategic advisory role focusing on research, analysis, policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Sault & Area Food Summit

The Sault & Area Food Summit is a gathering of organizations, farmers, businesses, institutions and individuals that want to create action and change in the local food system. It is an opportunity to learn what is happening and to develop a long-term vision for change.

Local Harvest Dinner Fundraiser

November 21, 2014 | 5pm
The Food Summit will kick-off on Friday evening with a Harvest Dinner, a locally-sourced meal catered by The Grand Gardens with ingredients from Algoma farms. All proceeds go to the Good Food Box, a service provided by the Soup Kitchen Community Centre that provides a variety of fresh produce to local families at low cost.

Community Session: Building a Healthy Local Food System for the Sault & Area

November 22, 2014 | 9am to 4:30pm
On Saturday the Sault & Area Food Summit continues with a Community Session - full-day panel presentations and roundtable discussions on Food Access, Production & Infrastructure. Speakers from across the north will share their community experiences developing local food systems, lending to how Sault Ste. Marie and area can create a food system that encourages access to healthy, local food for all community members.


The Sault & Area Food Summit is organized by the Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN), with support from the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition. Tickets for the Harvest Dinner Fundraiser are limited, and can be purchased for $30.00 at Scotiabank branches in Sault Ste. Marie (Station Mall and Northern Avenue). Space is limited for the Saturday Community Session. Tickets for this session are $5.00, available at the door.

Executive Researcher, Mowat NFP

Under general guidance from the Mowat Centre’s Director, the Executive Researcher directs and conducts evidence-based research and analysis on structural, foundational, and systemic issues facing the non-profit sector in Canada, with a particular focus on how those play out in Ontario and the GTA. This work is intended to support the federal and provincial governments and the sector in policy development.
