Energy Savings is Asset Building

A webinar presented by CFED with support from NeighborWorks America

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 | 2 - 3 pm EDT
According to the Department of Energy, the average U.S. household spends about $1,900 per year on home energy. From changes like adding insulation or replacing appliances, to fully replacing an outdated home with a newer ENERGY STAR® home, organizations across the country are advancing innovative strategies that amount to hundreds of dollars in energy savings for low-income families every year. In this webinar, presenters will share measures that homeowners and renters can take to control, or lower, their monthly utility bills to save more money and build assets. Participants will learn about energy savings strategies that work as well as innovative programs that are making a difference in the energy savings and asset-building fields. This webinar is ideal for affordable housing developers, operators and counselors and all those promoting asset building and financial security for low- and moderate-income households.

Presenters include:

  • Michelle Winters, Senior Manager, Green Strategies, NeighborWorks America (Moderator)
  • Dave Betler, Marketing & Operations Specialist, Next Step Network, LLC
  • Ludy Biddle, Executive Director, NeighborWorks of Western Vermont

Ontario Co-op Association Co-op Week Conference and Celebration

2013 CONFERENCE AND CELEBRATION

OnCoop's annual “Conference and Celebration” (previously known as the "Conference and Gala") is returning to its special place during Co-op Week, and will take place on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013!

The event will take place at the Teatro Conference and Event Centre in Milton, Ontario. Close to the airport, the 401 and nearby hotels, the venue is located in the perfect place for our membership coming from all parts of the province.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In a recent poll, our membership advised us that the educational, professional development and networking opportunities the annual event  provides, were what was most important to them. This year, we have planned a morning plenary/roundtable discussion, followed by a series of breakout sessions in the afternoon, which will be focused on the theme of “Sharing our Co-op Stories.” All sessions are being designed to provide participants with new ideas, as well as concrete tools and takeaways they can share with their organizations.

While we are bringing some of the traditional elements of the old conference back, we are replacing the all-day format with a morning and afternoon-only event, which will culminate with a networking Wine and Cheese reception, as well as a live auction fundraiser. The Spirit Awards ceremony will take place during a formal luncheon, as continuing to recognize individuals and organizations in the sector is another element of great importance to our members. We will also be holding raffle draws throughout the day, an exciting addition to the conference and celebration, to help support our award-winning youth engagment strategies and leadership programming.

It brings us great pleasure to announce these exciting new changes, in hopes that you will mark your calendars NOW and join us for an incredible day in October! Stay tuned for more information in the coming months!
