Provincial-Territorial Network of Ministers Responsible for the Social Economy
The coalition of groups involved in the National Summit on a People-Centred Economy has been supporting a recent invitation by Québec’s Minister Laurent Lessard to convene a provincial and territorial network of ministers responsible for the social economy. Letters have been sent to all provincial ministers that received an invitation. Consider writing to your provincial or territorial minister, encouraging them to accept this invitation and reinforcing the significance of the social economy in your province or territory.

Join the Canadian CED Network for the Annual General Meeting: June 6 in Toronto
CCEDNet’s 2012 Annual General Meeting will be held on June 6 at 7pm, in conjunction with the Ontario CED Conference, at the Learning Enrichment Foundation in Toronto. Members who cannot attend in person will be able to take part via webinar or teleconference.

Community Economies and Jobs to Suffer with Federal Cuts to Co-operative Development
Last month, the federal government announced the termination of the Co-operative Development Initiative along with drastic cuts to the Rural and Co-operatives Secretariat. In response, CCEDNet prepared a brief commentary, highlighting the significant impacts that these decisions will have on the development of new co-operative businesses, jobs, and services for communities throughout Canada. These cuts will ultimately result in a negative economic impact that will surely outweigh the short-term 'savings.' CCEDNet's response calls on the government to reverse their decision, for the sake of Canada's economy and communities.
