This case study was prepared for the International Forum on the Social and Solidarity Economy, held in Montréal, October 17-20, 2011. 

It reviews existing literature on the co-construction of public policy for the social economy in Canada, examines the state of the field in Canada and Québec, provides several illustrations of the development and implementation of public policies in Canada and Québec, considers the impacts of and gaps in existing public policies.
