This report draws together information from all of the research projects conducted as part of the Manitoba Research Alliance on Community Economic Development in the New Economy. The report contains sections on; defining the New Economy, including its impact in Canada and Manitoba and the impact of the New Economy on Manitoba’s agriculture, banking, garment and call centre industries. It also defines Community Economic Development (CED), and identifies urban, rural, Northern and First Nations communities, affected by the New Economy, that could benefit from the development of CED businesses. It then discusses state policy issues, business and employment planning and development, CED policies in Manitoba, and opportunities and recommendations. The report also includes a bibliography of selected MRA reports used for this kit.
