Key Findings from Housing Research in NWT
Nick Falvo, a PhD candidate from Carleton University presented the results of his new research on housing in the Northwest Territories at SERNNoCa’s Northern Summit on the Social Economy. Key findings from his research include:
Housing indicators suggest that the state of housing in the NWT is much worse than in the rest of Canada.
- Housing is more expensive to both build and maintain in the NWT
- The NWT government is very reliant on federal funding for the building, operation and maintenance of housing
- A long-term, permanent commitment is required by the federal government in order to sustain housing in the NWT
Nick's research and PowerPoint presentation are available here
