The Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is inviting applications for a Network Vibrancy Coordinator based out of our office in Toronto, Ontario. The Network Vibrancy Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be to co-create and sustain the strategies and tools to animate, enliven, and support CCEDNet’s membership, while also supporting the work of the National Storytelling Coordinator and Director of Engagement.

The Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is a values-based, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the social, economic, and environmental conditions of Canadian communities.  We have several hundred members throughout Canada working at the grassroots level in rural, urban, Indigenous and northern communities. CCEDNet engages a broad and inclusive range of community interests in common efforts to influence policy, create stronger and fairer local economies, tackle poverty and homelessness, and invest in sustainable communities. 

DUTIES

• Listen deeply to understand the historical moment of the network’s organizing to inform ongoing strategizing
• Nurture relationships with members to support collective visioning and provide relevant supports to resource regional organizing efforts
• Lead the work of virtual and face to face membership convenings, connect member needs with existing resources, and recommend new resources for common unmet needs
• Anchor storytelling as a practice and strategy for movement building and metanarrative work amongst staff and membership
• Lead member communications through multiple virtual platforms and communications products - development, design, writing, editing, and publishing of organizational publication and promotional materials (e.g. CiviMail campaigns to members, member meetups, etc.)
• Support Community Leadership Program development as necessary
• Participate in CCEDNet’s organizational learning journey through deep listening and prioritizing conversations of greatest relevance to/in communities
• Practice community care within the team, wider staff, and membership at large

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with a member-oriented perspective and experience or interest in working within a communications framework
• Project management and event organizing/logistics management experience
• Track record of relationship, movement, and/or coalition building
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; English/French bilingualism an asset
• Knowledge of web-based communication tools: customer relationship management programs (CiviCRM), WordPress, MailChimp, Drupal, social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Hootsuite), Google apps, Microsoft Office, online file storage (Box, Google Drive)
• Detail-oriented, collaborative, professional, analytical and self-starting
• Curiosity and a love of perpetual learning, with strong discernment and a good sense of humour
• Experience and/or keen interest in community economic development and social enterprise an asset

Location:  The successful candidate will join CCEDNet's team at our Toronto offices, which are located in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood, uniquely situated along Gabekanaang-ziibi, the Anishinaabemowin name for the Humber River, which means “Leave the canoes and go back.” This waterway provides an integral connection between Indigenous communities on the shore of Lake Ontario, Lake Simcoe, and the Georgian Bay region. The Anishinaabemowin name for this area is Adobigok, which means the Place of the Alders.

This is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (aka. Six Nations Confederacy), the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This land is also part of the Dish with One Spoon territory, a treaty between the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (aka. The Six Nations Confederacy), the Anishinaabek and allied nations, to peaceably share and care for this land, its waters, and all of the biodiversity in the Great Lakes region. All those who come to live and work here are responsible for honouring this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship, and respect.

Compensation:  This is a full time (37.5 hours/week) term position with benefits from September 2019 - October 2020 with possibility of renewal. Salary is $21.03 - $26.97/hr depending on qualifications and experience.
