The Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) is inviting applications for the position of Finance Manager, supporting the work of CCEDNet’s Director of Finance and Administrative Coordinator.  The ideal candidate will have strong skills in bookkeeping, accounting and HR-related financial administration, and related experience that could contribute to developing stronger internal financial information sharing systems across the organization.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Finance, and working closely with the Administrative Coordinator, the Finance Manager will, for all legal entities managed by CCEDNet:

  • Supervise regular bookkeeping activities and ensure CCEDNet accounts are maintained in the designated accounting software
  • Control and approve accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all transactions are properly coded
  • Control and approve payroll
  • Develop and implement systems, processes and procedures to streamline bookkeeping and financial information flow throughout the organization, while ensuring appropriate controls and segregation of duties
  • Ensure all monies are deposited correctly
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations
  • Verify monthly conciliations
  • Support the preparation of year-end audit materials and liaise with auditors for the annual audit
  • Liaise with insurance provider to ensure insurance coverage is up to date.
  • Review group benefits coverage and costs for proper expense allocation 
  • Review and approve employment contracts. 
  • Monitor and verify staff leave allotments and use   
  • Any other related financial or administrative tasks as required

Essential Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, financial management or at least five years equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with non-profit reporting and project management, and systems for efficient reporting and information sharing across remote teams. 
  • Mastery of the full accounting cycle, with excellent analysis and understanding of accounting operations
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks online is an asset 
  • Comfort with technology and ability to implement new software tools to streamline financial management
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially email communications
  • Comfort working from home, using virtual meeting tools, but in a collaborative team setting
  • Comfort with using G-Suite (particularly Gmail, Google Calendar, and Drive), Microsoft Office and online file sharing platforms. 
  • Understanding of written and spoken English is essential; bilingualism (English / French) is an asset

Working Conditions

CCEDNet staff are working from home for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. This role is situated with our administrative team, located in Victoriaville, Québec, but could be carried out remotely. The successful candidate must be available during weekdays and ideally the schedule would be spread across the week. 

Hours and Compensation

This is a part-time, permanent position, requiring on average 12 hrs / week.  Schedule requirements may vary somewhat following the monthly accounting and annual audit cycle.  Salary is from $24.98 to $28.65, commensurate with experience.  CCEDNet offers a competitive leave package and a positive work environment.  This position is not eligible for extended health benefits.
