ABOUT THE CANADIAN CED NETWORK
CCEDNet is a values-based, non-profit association committed to connecting people and ideas for action that builds local economies, strengthens communities, and benefits everyone. We have members throughout Canada, including organizations, networks, and individuals who are strengthening sustainable and equitable local economies. Members are active across many sectors such as community development, social enterprise, rural development, co-operative development, employment development, and housing.
We are committed to the values of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Dignity, Self-Determination, Solidarity, and Local Control. Together, we are working towards sustainable and inclusive communities directing their own social, environmental, and economic futures through our Theory of Change.
ABOUT CCEDNET’S REGIONAL & STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
While CCEDNet is a national association, we recognize that community economic development and related fields are often organized at local or sectoral levels. Practitioners need supportive structures, policies and programs, networks, and information systems that are tuned to their local needs and opportunities. Provincial and local governments often have jurisdiction over important policies that affect our work. At the same time, some CED practices or related sectors really benefit from convening and development opportunities focused on their unique needs. This is why CCEDNet has often had projects, coalitions, or hubs operating at these levels. As we operationalize our new Theory of Change, we decided to dedicate resources to this scope of activities, led by our Director of Regional and Strategic Initiatives. Some of the projects that are included in this portfolio are CCEDNet-Manitoba, administrative support of Alberta SEED, work to convene the federal Investment Readiness Program (IRP) partnership, and a variety of other collaborative projects focused on particular regions or practices within the CED movement across Canada.
ABOUT THE POSITION
You will contribute to a more connected, robust, and powerful CED, social economy, social innovation ecosystem by growing our reach into under-connected regions, assisting members and network partners to launch projects, resource activities, and strengthen relationships at regional levels.
OPPORTUNITY
As a generalist who thrives on building strong relationships, a system thinker, and a confident facilitator of meetings and collaborative projects, this is your opportunity to use your skills to build and serve the CED movement from coast to coast to coast. You will support organizations that do extraordinary CED work.
- Develop and implement a process to undertake regional ecosystem development projects as part of the IRP. Also provide support as needed to the members and partners implementing these projects, which could include a range of activities such as environmental scans or collective priority setting, research and knowledge mobilization, convening groups of leaders for sector development, piloting new collaborative projects, planning government relations, and more. This will include intake, selection, and contracting with approximately 5-10 contractors.
- Convene key partners focused on grassroots community investment organizations (such as opportunity development co-ops in Alberta or CEDIFs in Nova Scotia) in 4 sessions to share learning and identify needed ecosystem development for this part of the social finance landscape in Canada.
- Engage with CCEDNet members and partners about their local needs and what role the Network could play in strengthening their regional ecosystem. Detail your findings to the Regional & Strategic Initiatives team to help the strategy evolve and improve.
- Support the Regional & Strategic Initiatives team with a variety of other tasks as needed, which may include: helping with a local meeting or event; updating websites or other communications content; bringing partners or actors together to learn more about each other's work, etc.
- Contribute to federal and other funder relationship management including providing details to the Director for reports to funders and internal management systems.

You’ll collaborate with other leaders in this portfolio including the Partnership Manager and Engagement Manager for the Investment Readiness Program, the Manitoba Network Manager, and AB Seed’s lead contractor. At CCEDNet, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with staff team members working on national engagement, public policy, and learning & innovation, as well as forming strong working relationships with our administration and finance team. You’ll meet a variety of members from regions and strategic sectors or practices across the country.

You know how to navigate network, association, coalition building and governance models with ease. You understand how local action requires a coordinated regional, provincial, and federal ecosystem of support. And you have a proven track record of using your skills in relationship building, outreach, and project management to support this ecosystem.
You have a growing knowledge of CED, social economy, social innovation, social finance and a deepening understanding of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.
