6th Annual Rise and Shine Forum - Accessing Local Capital

Wednesday, November 30
8:30am - 12:00pm
Session via videoconference

Join ACCA's Rise and Shine Forum to:

  • Learn how some communities have used the co-operative model to access local capital to retain and expand local businesses
  • Learn about current opportunities and future initiatives for attracting local capital
  • Identify applications for your community

Speakers:

  • Paul Cabaj (ACCA), Dave Felstad (Westlock Terminals New Generation Co-operative), and Dan Ohler (Sangudo Opportunity Development Co-operative)

Table discussions will follow the presentations with the objective of exploring applications for your community and what is needed to move ahead.

Two participation options:

a) Attend a session in Calgary or Edmonton:

National Justice Summit and Poverty Un-Conference 2011

Building the Social Capital that Drives Innovation for a Just World

Summit and Un-conference: December 4 – 7
Poverty Un-conference Only: December 6 - 7

Edmonton, Alberta

The Summit will bring together people and organizations from a wide variety of constituencies to connect, learn and identify ways to work together better. This event will feature social capital builders, innovators and leading justice practitioners from across the country. By engaging all facets of civil society and representatives from the public and private sector in participative dialogue, this Summit aims to build the social capital that drives innovation for a just world.

Participants will have the option of:

  • Attending the Full Event that runs over three days, December 5-7; or,
  • Attending the Un-conference on Poverty and Social Entrepreneurship on December 6-7.

Sessions, dialogues and forums will cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Poverty Law and Social Justice
  • Economics, Education and Community Development
  • Understanding Social Media and its Role in Education and Community Building
  • Asset Building for Lower Wealth Families
  • And many more
