Job Developer

POSITION SUMMARY

In consultation with the Team Leader of the Job Matching Unit and Executive Director, the Job Developer will be responsible for connecting with employers to identify work placement and training opportunities that match the skills and interests of program participants. Close monitoring and follow up of all participants is key to successfully managing a diverse caseload of clients thus, maximizing their potential to become self-sufficient contributing members of Canadian society.

Mentoring Program Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mentoring Program Coordinator position entails responsibility for the direct service mentoring operations of Manitoba Start. All operations will be managed and implemented according to established best practices in the mentoring field and in consultation with the Executive Director or Designate. The incumbent will be responsible for selecting referred newcomers, orientating/training, and screening them for mentorship opportunities within industry, ensuring appropriate fit for matching one-to-one opportunities.

Young Entrepreneurs Course & Competition

Young Entrepreneurs is an intensive 12-week course that introduces Winnipeg’s Aboriginal youth to the business world. Upon completion of the program students will have the basic knowledge of what it takes to run and own a business from an Indigenous perspective. Classes will lead up to a final ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch and the participant with the best pitch, business plan, and business idea will be chosen to attend the Reservation Economic Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada (all expenses paid). Once in Las Vegas the winner will have the opportunity to participate in NCAIED’s business plan competition.

The grand prize is $20,000 to help with the start up costs relating to their business. All classes are hosted by Wab Kinew, Director of Indigenous Inclusion at The University of Winnipeg.

Open to Aboriginal youth in Winnipeg between the ages of 15-24!
