Building Your Social Enterprise Workshop

Enterprising Non-Profits is bringing its nationally renowned Build Your Social Enterprise workshop to Winnipeg in November. This highly effective, informative and interactive session should be attended by any non-profit organiations looking to:
  • Enhance delivery on mission and programs
  • Respond to increased local community needs
  • Diversify revenue sources
  • Improve self-sustainability options 
The workshop provides staff, board and volunteers of non-profit organizations a day of learning on the "what and how" of social enterprise. All participants will receive a copy of enp's comprehensive Canadian Guide to Social Enterprise.

About the Facilitators:

David LePage, Enterprising Non-Profits: David is the Program Manager of enp in Vancouver. He is a member of the Social Enterprise Council of Canada, board member of Social Enterprise Alliance, and a collaborator with the Social Enterprise World Forum. He has been engaged in the social economy for nearly forty years, including inner city and rural economic development, community media, and social enterprise.
 
Brendan Reimer, Canadian CED Network: Brendan is the Regional Coordinator for the Canadian CED Network, a member of the Social Enterprise Council of Canada, and is on the Board of Directors for the Assiniboine Credit Union. Brendan has worked for years to advance public awareness of social enterprises, and advocated for policies in support of social enterprise development in Manitoba and across the country.

Early Childhood Educator II/III

Career Trek is looking for three certified childcare workers - ECI II and/or ECI III.

The successful applicants will be dynamic, committed, team-oriented individuals who like to work with young mothers in an innovative educational setting.

Work will be conducted in designated facilities at the University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg, Red River College, Winnipeg Technical College, and Tec Voc High School between 4:00 - 8:30 pm. Tuesday and Thursday nights for 20 weeks between October and April.

This year we will be examining our work in relation to a Toronto-‐based organization called RENT. RENT has been in existence for 12 years and is the hub of communication, training programs and resources for housing workers in Toronto and beyond.

Guest speakers:

  • Janet Fairfield, RENT Facilitator (Resources Exist for Networking and Training)
  • Elis Ziegler, Manager, Housing Services Dept, East York East Toronto Family Resources (including East York Housing Help Centre, RENT, and LandlordConnect)

Afternoon workshop includes:

  • The Residential Tenancies Branch and procedures regarding eviction
  • Local panel on Approaches to Eviction Prevention
  • Building partnerships for workshops
