About the Workshop
Extensive "'up-front"' planning is the key to successful project completion! This workshop covers planning the entire project from start-to-finish, incorporating important core management concepts. Working with project ideas of their own, participants will work through the essentials of project planning. This is a highly interactive session incorporating the "what-ifs" and the "if-thens" of project planning.

Volunteer Management Leadership Skills (Level 2)

Prerequisite: Volunteer Management Introduction

Today's environment is fast-moving, competitive and constantly changing. As a result, organizations not only need to improve their management systems, they also need staff and volunteers with strong leadership skills. Volunteer Management Leadership Skills is a three-day workshop that provides participants with the opportunity to examine and improve their leadership abilities.

Participants will have an opportunity to network with other managers of volunteer programs and become familiar with current resources.

This course provided invaluable information and tools for leadership as a volunteer manager. After taking the course, I have shared some of the tips and resources with my co-workers and we've been able to put to use many of the practical strategies for networking, leading teams, and accessing information on trends that will benefit our organization. Program Planning & Evaluation by distance

Core Course for the Red River College Volunteer Management Certificate - 10 hour credit*

Prerequisite: Volunteer Manitoba's "Volunteer Management Introduction" or Red River College's "Working with Volunteers" course

Building and maintaining a quality volunteer program takes careful planning and analysis. Participants in this course will gain the skills and resources to:

  • determine the most pressing needs of their clients
  • establish realistic goals and outcomes for their programs, and
  • evaluate their program's performance.

This course is currently being offered in a distance learning format for your convenience. You can start in January, April or October and will have 5 weeks to complete the readings and assignments. There will be 3 short assignments throughout the course and one larger, final assignment. The instructor will be available by phone and email to answer any questions and assist you through the materials.

Who should attend?
Volunteer Managers and all people responsible for supervising volunteers.

Resource Area Assistant

Job Description

Responsible for managing the resource area of an employment agency that caters to youth (ages 15-30). Assist clients in resume development, interview preparation and job search strategies. Additional responsibilities include collecting labour market information for clients regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements and client advocacy.

Access and Opportunity for Immigrants

Access and Opportunity for Immigrants is an information and networking event for immigrants, who are interested in attending post-secondary education. We will address topics that are of particular interest and concern to immigrants - such as prior learning assessment and on-campus support services - as well as general information, such as admission requirements and financial aid. We hope to assist immigrants make their steps to pursue post-secondary education.

There will be draw to win $5000 to go towards an education at The University of Winnipeg.

Facilitator, Aboriginal Community Collaborations (ACC)

Supporting Employment and Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. (SEED) is a Community Economic Development organization with a focus on the inner city of Winnipeg and marginalized clients.

We are seeking a full-time individual (40 hours per week) to facilitate training in money management and business development for Aboriginal participants in SEED programs. This person will also be responsible for the development of culturally-relevant curriculum for Aboriginal clients.
