An Economy for Everyone: Bold Strategies to Build Racial and Economic Equity

PolicyLinkMore than 100 million people in the United States — one in every three residents, and nearly half of all people of color — are economically insecure, with a household income below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The new report from PolicyLink and PERE, "100 Million and Counting: A Portrait of Economic Insecurity in the United States," states that this reflects not only the toxic polarization of wealth and income but also the persistence of racial inequities throughout the economy.

Join us on January 14 to hear from leading thinkers and advocates as they discuss bold, innovative policy ideas that can transform systems and institutions to tap into the potential of people of color and low-income communities rather than locking them out of our national prosperity, so we can all share in the benefits of a more equitable and inclusive society.

Learn more about the Canadian Conference on Social Enterprise

Social enterprise is a growing movement in communities across Canada. For 10 years, the Social Enterprise Council of Canada has been bringing community developers, social entrepreneurs, and policy makers together to envision how these businesses can solve our biggest problems. Join us with our partners to learn together, celebrate incredible progress, and set the stage for the next decade of social impact.

Partnering with national leaders, the Social Enterprise Ecosystem Project, you can expect a rich 3 day experience filled with networking, peer-learning and workshops on key topics, and opportunities to shape the future priorities of the Social Enterprise Council of Canada. We’ll begin with an evening plenary on Wednesday, May 9. On Thursday, our innovative learning exchange model will share the rich social enterprise sector of Ottawa – Gatineau while allowing new and experienced practitioners to work together, developing real solutions to challenges social enterprises face in today’s market. On Friday, we’ll wrap up with plenary and breakout sessions and a final lunch.

This conference is the antithesis of talking heads. Whether you’re involved in social enterprise as a manager, a developer, an advocate, or government partner, you’ll find a way to join the conversation and leave with new inspiration, contacts, and ways to jump on the opportunities coming your way.
