Internship Background:
The Canadian Community Economic Development (CED) Network Work Experience Program, CreateAction, is the only national internship program that provides paid learning opportunities for young people to do community economic development in their own communities. The Canadian CED Network has generously provided funding for this internship with the VIRCS Multicultural Environmental Education Program. See program eligibility requirement below.

Community Futures has been selected by the Canadian CED Network to host a CED Intern for a six month term through the CreateAction Work Experience Program, funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

The CED Intern must meet the following criteria:

Coast Capital Savings is looking for an experienced community leader with the ability to think long-term and execute plans in a tactical manner. You’ll also need:
• A minimum of 7-9 years experience with a strong and established brand within a marketing, community or public relations department
• Proven budget management skills and significant experience providing strategic direction
• Experience managing, mentoring and coaching a high-level team
• A Bachelor's Degree or a diploma requiring 3 - 4 years of full-time study

• Time Requirement: Aug. 2 – Nov. 10th, 2010; 24 hours/week for 16 weeks.
• Location: CHLY – Radio Malaspina, Nanaimo, B.C.
• Type of work: Co-ordinate and facilitate the training of citizen journalists.
• Evaluation Criteria: Please submit a cover letter, resume and example radio clip. Your cover letter should include the contact details of three referees: 1 character and 2 working references. References will be required only if you are short-listed for an interview.
