The Volunteer’s Role

The purpose of the placement is to provide the necessary support to the Climate Change Division (CCD)-Office of the Prime Minister-to effectively fulfil its mandate: - that of promoting greater awareness and communication for climate change adaptation and mitigation. As a volunteer, you will work closely with the Public Awareness/Behaviour Change Specialist to implement a nationwide campaign to promote awareness of climate change and environmental stewardship. Support to the CCD will also include liaising with marketing agencies and graphic designers in designing the content for the campaign.

As a volunteer, you will:

-Support the CCD in coordinating awareness raising, education and outreach activities

-Develop communication materials and design print ads around climate change sensitization relevant to the local context.

-Support in the development of programmes for communication of climate change information and tools for effective outreach

Essential Academic Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations

-Relevant certificates/diplomas in communications

Essential Professional Background:

-At least 2 years’ experience working on communications related projects

-Experience working with multiple stakeholders and working on partnerships

-Experience working with/designing or communication materials, leading or conducting outreach initiatives

-Excellent oral and writing skills

-Ability to work on own initiative

Support Package

- Bonus: Additional return flight home or cash in lieu after 12 months of service for volunteers who extend for another 6 months
