Health in Common, in partnership with Nine Circles Community Health Centre, United Way of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba, will host a Summer Institute in Program Evaluation from June 14 – 18, 2010 in Winnipeg, MB.  The Planning Committee is seeking to contract a project coordinator to support overall planning of this event.

CCPA: Women's Poverty and the Recession

A new CCPA report by researcher Monica Townson draws attention to Canada's shockingly high rates of women's poverty and offers a strong critique of recent federal government policies that have helped contribute to it. The report reveals almost one-quarter (24%) of Canadian women raising children on their own and 14% of single older women are poor.

Spence Neighbourhood Association Safety Coordinator

Spence Neighbourhood Association works with community residents to improve neighbourhood safety through community organising emphasising education, community connecting, and capacity building.

This project will work towards increased participation and collaboration, improved resident capacity to understand and work collaboratively on safety issues, and increased responsiveness to safety issues in West Central Winnipeg (West Broadway, Daniel McIntyre, St Matthews, and Spence Neighbourhoods). Main activities will include:

$16, up to 35 hours a week starting immediately

CED Staff Training: Know and Grow your Coaching Style

This two-day training session focuses on the development of self-management and coaching
skills for Community Futures staff members. Coaching is defined as a process that enables
learning and development to occur and lead to improved performance. To be a successful
coach requires a strong understanding of your own stengths and blindspots and the ability to
assess the strengths and blindspots of those you are coaching. Using the concept of
psychological type, this training examines actions that can enhance the quality and success
of relationships.

Cost: $250 (includes training manual and lunch both days)

Registration deadline is 4:30 pm, November 13, 2009.
Cancellation Policy: There will be no refund of fees upon cancellation, however, alternates are welcome.
